Janina Fialkowska is recognized as one of Montréal’s greatest musical exports. She graces the world’s stages with stirring interpretations of Chopin and Beethoven. MCO’s founder Alexander Brott brings Beethoven’s Québec connection to life. “Freu dich des Lebens” a short canon which Beethoven gave as a gift to Québec music teacher Theodore Molt, is transmogrified into a series of orchestral variations of contrasting fire and serene beauty created for Beethoven’s bicentenary.

Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel not only shared the birth-year of 1685, but also the ability to write rousing choruses for their dramatic works for the church and stage. The McGill Concert Choir led by Robert Ingari brings these exciting works to life with our great orchestra.
